Identify your Approach Zone

The size of your APPROACH ZONE is the difference between the distance you hit your most lofted club and least lofted club.  Example: If you hit your lob wedge 77 Yards and your 3-wood 220 Yards, then the length of your Approach Zone is 143 Yards.

220 – 77 = 143 Yards

Determine Ideal Gaps

Not counting your Driver and Putter, you have 12 clubs to cover your Approach Zone.  With these 12 clubs, you will have 11 gaps.  In our example (143 Yds): the ideal gap between each club would be 13 Yds.

Your Goal

It is unlikely you will be able to achieve the ideal gapping between every club, but your goal is to come as close as possible to your Ideal Approach Zone Gaps.
